Sheffield Women's Counselling & Therapy Service

Sheffield Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service (SWCTS) is a women-only organisation which provides a free confidential therapy/counselling service for women in Sheffield. We believe that women are affected by their position in society but also by their own unique life experience; this belief is shared by all staff at SWCTS. To find out about our services, please read the section What we offer and how to refer.

Our Aims

  • Our aim is to be open to all women: we particularly encourage women to use our service who, for whatever reason, find it difficult to access other services

  • SWCTS is a free service

  • The therapists work in different ways: all share a commitment to a respectful, supportive and confidential relationship in which women can explore ways of helping themselves

  • Our base is in a discreet building in a residential street not far from the city centre offering a safe, quiet, comfortable space to work with a therapist

  • As well as the core SWCTS therapists who are all qualified, registered and very experienced we have a small number of volunteers working with us. Volunteers are clinically supervised and either in training or qualified. We also have a number of associate therapists who work with us, based in other parts of the city, all of whom are registered and experienced in delivering therapy.

We know that it can be hard to find help and many people are worried about coming for counselling. We provide a helpful and friendly service. If you think our service might be helpful please Contact Us.
